Due to our clients exciting growth and promotion opportunities, they are recruiting a Group Engineering Manager to be based in their Engineering Offices in Cork.

Continues to be a leading Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation contractor in a dynamic and growing market with projects in Ireland, mainland Europe and the UK.

Experienced in project delivery across many sectors including Pharmaceutical, Data Centres, Commercial, Power and Waste to Energy. Across these sectors, the engineering remit clients are increasingly extending into CSA and OSM solution.

Reporting to the Group Engineering Director, the successful candidate will lead the mechanical, electrical and CSA team, ensuring designs fulfil fabrication, installation and commissioning requirements. 

The Engineering Manager will be an exemplar ambassador for the company and its values: integrity, dependability, safety, pride, and quality.

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Developing and innovating the engineering process in supporting our engineering, preconstruction and modular capabilities.
  • Support engineering activities across multiple projects, including checking and carrying out peer reviews and reviewing designs for commissonability.
  • Liaising with and integrating third party engineering houses into our projects and engineered solutions, when required.
  • Review projects and provide direction, assistance and design solutions to project engineering teams and project managers.
  • Manage engineering induction process with new engineers and graduates joining the company ensuring engagement with the LMS System to complete scheduled training,
  • Drive the success of the engineering graduate and scholarship programmes
  • Drive the success of the engineering support team and wider project teams by mentoring and ensuring professional development of engineers 
  • Liaise with the construction teams and supply chain to ensure correct selection and technical compliance of equipment leading to successful handover and project close out in conjunction with the project manager
  • If assigned to specific projects, assistance in all areas of engineering from pre-construction to commissioning
  • Support and take direction from the group engineering director 
  • Travel to various sites in Ireland, the UK and Europe will be required, this will vary depending on the project needs.  

Educational Requirements: 

  • Degree qualified in Electrical, Mechanical or Sustainable Engineering or equivalent.

Experience and Skills Required: 

  • Minimum 8 years of design and construction experience 
  • Knowledge of design codes, standards and regulations
  • 3D literate using the latest software platforms 
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems in the field 
  • Commissioning experience 
  • Knowledgeable on Sustainability, Health, Safety and Environmental systems 
  • Commercial understanding 
  • Commitment to CPD with an interest in furthering your expertise 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
